Hello everyone!
A few notes for this week:
My classes will meet in the cafeteria on Tues, Wed, and Thursday due to 5th grade testing. This is not ideal but we must be adaptable during testing and we want the 5th graders to have a nice quiet environment when they test. Mr. Thompson's class will move for us next week when we take our EOG's.
Speaking of which, our EOG's are next Tuesday and Wednesday. All 4th grade classes will test in their homerooms but 6th grade teachers will administer the tests. Mrs. Brindle will test 4B and she has already come by and introduced herself and made them laugh.
This is the last week for graded work. If your student has missing work, it must be handed in this week, no later than Thursday. Missing work was listed on progress reports. I do not have a list of what your child is missing! I have a pile of papers and assignments to grade! At this point in the year, your student should know if they handed something in or not. If they are not sure, I will post a list of things due on the board, and they can ask me. Homework will end on this week and I will not grade or accept it past Thursday.
EOG review this week.

Week of May 5
Hello all and Happy Cinco de Mayo! I hope you are all enjoying a festive weekend with family, friends and, of course, food!
This week I will administer another standardized test in an effort to gauge where we need to focus our attention as we turn to real EOG prep. This should take a couple days. Last week, I looked through the released Reading test to get some vocabulary words that we could focus on for this week. We will not have a test this week on these words but we will use them and practice them in class for the next couple weeks. I may decide to have a test next week on some of them, depending on how our work goes this week. I will let you know in plenty of time. There are many :) If you have a few minutes, go over some of these words with your student, especially the ones with an asterisk, most are review.
Vocab for all groups, for the next 2 weeks:
there, they're, their (many still struggle with these)
to, two, too (and these)
hesitation

selection *
tousle
irritated *
fortunate *
assistant *
circulatory *
summarize *
mentioning
represent *
simile *
submission *

rejection *
statement *
punctuation *

heaping
insisted

I feel pretty confident about the vocab this year, but we need to begin to review and sharpen our grasp of many of these words.
A friend of mine sent this to me this week and I loved it! I thought I'd share, please watch!

Progress reports go home this week, please look for them.
Almost forgot: Book report and project are due!!!! The project is a poster based on the information in the non-fiction book your child read!
