Thanks to all of you for your generous donations to class! I received most of what I requested and then some. You are all terrific, thanks again.
All classes will continue to work on their metaphor poems and artwork this week. I was very impressed with some of the poetry. We have some budding word-smiths in 5th grade this year. We will work to develop these skills.
We launch the fairytale unit this week also. Students will read and write their very own tales. We will delve into the structure and vocabulary of fairytales and, in a couple weeks, each class will listen along and read an extended fairytale in class.
I will be sending home a very important handout this week about a year-long reading project. Please keep an eye out for that, as you must sign and return a portion of it.
Important dates to remember:
Sept 6: PTO meeting
Sept. 20: Bookmobile
Sept. 29: Picture Day
Oct. 11-19: Bookfair
Also, remember, students must read for 30 minutes nightly, and write a summary that includes the pages they read and title of book. Please check with your child, some are not completing homework.
There are 3 different Vocab lists this week. Please be sure your student studies the correct one!
